U Matters

As I return from sabbatical, I am thrilled to participate in two of the more meaningful services: Good Friday and Easter.

The Good Friday service 3:00PM tomorrow and the Easter services on Sunday are the highlight of the church year. We remember and celebrate the salvation we share because of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This Easter there will be an opportunity for baptism during and after the 9:30AM and 11:00AM services.  We want to provide the chance for people new to the faith to take the next step on the road to following Christ.  We encourage you to bring a friend on Sunday.  The music, the food, and the friendship will be wonderful.  Please join in the celebration.

Pastor Greg

Opportunities at Union

Bible Series Talk - 'Boring, Shocking, Misunderstood, and Very Meaningful' - Pastor Matthew

  • Sunday, 10 Apr
  • Light refreshments 12:15PM
  • Talk and Small Groups 12:30PM to 1:30PM
  • Upper Annex

Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy are famous as books for lawyers and priests, or rather more ignominiously, as 'the most boring books of the Bible!'  But are they all snoozy? What can we learn about God from a list of laws or a census? Are nonsensical rules such as 'do not boil a young goat in its mother's milk' or 'you shall not allow a witch to live' or the genealogies in Numbers relevant today? We will focus on stories that foreshadow Jesus Christ in Numbers (such as the serpent in the wilderness) and passages that display God's mercy through God's justice inDeuteronomy and Leviticus

Restored Lives - Recovery from Divorce and Separation Course is run over seven Thursdays, 14 Apr-26 May, from 7:00PM to 9:30PM in Upper Annex. The course is both practical and supportive, giving any separated or divorced person the opportunity to discuss the challenges they are facing and the tools to deal with these effectively. The cost is HK$400 per person including dinner. Sign up online. For more information please contact Anne or Michael Birley .

Oasis

Wed, 30 Mar, 8:00PM (Refreshments at 7:30PM)

Samson, Jephthah, and Civil War

Can we still speak of God's presence when God seems very absent? Discuss with us the second half of the book of Judges and the great stories of Samson wooing Delilah, Jephthah sacrificing his daughter, and Israel's first and greatest civil war that follows after the most disturbing story in the entire Bible. Rebellion is more frequent, and God's intervention grows more dramatic until God apparently withdraws entirely.

Youth

Please note that there will be no Youth Group on 25 Mar & 1 Apr due to the Easter Holiday. Youth Group will resume on Friday, 8 Apr. There will also be no Youth Sunday school on 27 Mar & 3 Apr. Sunday school will resume on 10 Apr.

Kingdom Kids

Easter Sunday  Children age 3-10 years old are invited to join us for our Easter Sunday activities. There will be children's worship, Easter story telling, crafts, cookie decoration, games and an Easter egg hunt at the 9:30AM and 11:00AM service. Families and friends are welcome to join us.

Yay Neighbours! "Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth" -1 John 3:18
We are partnering with a local church in Tung Chung to have regular outreaches in Tung Chung to reach out to the ethnic minorities in the neighbourhood. This will not be a one-off event or visit, rather we hope that we can build friendships with our neighbours so that we can share the love of Christ with them through our actions. For more information, please contact Crystal at Crystal Lo.
