Production Manager (Full-time)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead with Vision: Inspire and empower a dedicated team of volunteers to deliver exceptional production for all events, from weekly services and worship gatherings to community outreach initiatives and special events.
  • Craft Compelling Experiences: Utilise your expertise in audio, visual, video, streaming, lighting, and stage management to create dynamic and engaging environments that enhance worship, communication, and connection.
  • Be a Team Player: Collaborate closely with pastors, staff, volunteers, and external partners to ensure seamless event execution and exceed production goals.
  • Embrace Innovation: Continuously evaluate and improve production processes, seeking new technologies and methods to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Nurture Talent: Recruit, train, and mentor a passionate team of volunteers, fostering their skills and growth within the production ministry.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Faith-Driven: A vibrant and mature Christian faith with a commitment to serving God and His people.
  • Production Expertise: Minimum 5 years of experience in live production, with a strong understanding of various technical domains (audio, visual, video, streaming, lighting, stage management)
  • Recent Graduates Welcome: We encourage recent graduates with a degree in Technical Production and Management, Theatre Design, Media Design and Technology, Communication and New Media with less than 5 years of experience to apply.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a team of volunteers.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and comfortable working in a multicultural setting.
  • Team Builder: A proven track record of recruiting, training, and developing effective teams.

Director of Communications (Full-time)

Both Hong Kong and Union Church are in an exciting season. We have recently moved back to new and larger premises on Kennedy Road on Hong Kong Island. Possibilities abound - new ministries, expanding outreach to Hong Kong and beyond, opportunities for all to pursue God-inspired passions for His Kingdom.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Senior Pastor, the Director will be responsible for:

    • Communications Strategy, Vision and Leadership
    • Developing and implementing an integrated, organisation-wide strategic communications plan to engage all segments of our Union Church congregation and support ministry leaders
    • Promoting the awareness of the church to the city and especially our neighbourhood
    • Overseeing the development of all print materials and publications
    • Overseeing the development of electronic communications, including the church’s website, ¬weekly electronic newsletter and WhatsApp
    • Serving as lead point person on media interactions that help promote and/or impact the church and actively cultivate and manage press relationships
    • Overseeing databases which support communications such as the church management system, website content management system, and asset library
    • Guiding the Graphic Designer on design direction
    • Working with Digital Ministry Director on digital communication strategy and plan
    • Recruiting, managing and mentoring a communications support team (staff, volunteers, contractors)

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Degree in Communications, Marketing or related field
    • 8+ years’ experience in a communications role
    • A heart for the church, a mature relationship with Jesus and a desire to disciple and encourage others
    • Experience managing and executing across multiple communications media
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, website content management system (CMS), email marketing platforms, and other marketing, communication and management systems; experience of Adobe Creative Cloud apps a plus
    • Experience of web, mailblast, and social media analytics
    • Willing to execute day¬ to¬ day tasks and work independently
    • Must be a team player, capable of working well with others
    • Strong entrepreneurial work ethic and a desire to “get the job done”
    • Ability to work effectively with all segments of the Church community

    Director of Digital Ministry (Full-time)

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Reporting to the Senior Pastor, the Director will be responsible for:

    • Developing and overseeing the strategy of the digital ministry – which covers but is not limited to managing the website, social media and digital campaigns to reach and raise interest in Christianity among non-believers and to strengthen faith among the congregation and also “faith explorers/seekers”.
    • Website: Be the primary person updating the website’s content.
    • Social Media, including planning, capturing, editing, publishing, and sharing content on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn and exploring other social media where applicable.
    • Managing Digital Outreaches and Campaigns, from concept to completion – including scriptwriting, storyboarding, directing, filming, and editing of promotional and creative content.  
    • Moderating all user-generated content in line with Union Church’s moderation policy.
    • Capturing and analysing social data/metrics and using the data/trends to improve our outreach and attract the next generation of seekers and believers in Jesus Christ.

    Ministry Assistant (Full-time)

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Position Summary: The Ministry Assistant is responsible for supporting ministries on various fronts. The successful candidate will have an eye for detail while multi-tasking efficiently, and also demonstrate hospitality to people seeking ministry service.
    • Manage the welcome desk on Sunday by serving at the desk, liaising with volunteers to serve at the desk, keeping record of newcomers and directing them to appropriate ministry leaders or programmes.
    • Manage the registration of ministry events and classes.
    • Manage the ministry events by serving as the “point of contact” and coordinating with ministry leaders, administrative team and the church’s custodial team on event set up, clean up, catering, equipment set up and testing and technician scheduling.
    • Actively manage and communicate the budget with ministry leaders and the Director of Operations throughout event planning and execution.
    • Manage and keep an up-to-date calendar of ministry events.
    • Working alongside the AV/Production team, and the strong volunteer base of worship leaders, instrumentalists, and pianists.
    • Maintain the church management system.
    • Support the pastoral team as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • Hospitable and with a desire to serve
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to multi-task quickly and effectively
    • Excellent organisational skills
    • Weekend, public holiday and evening hours may be required
    • Fluent English and Cantonese preferred

    Director of Contemporary Worship (Full-time)

    Our Director of Contemporary Worship will discover passionate volunteer worship teams with whom to collaborate to plan and deliver contemporary worship during the 11:15 Sunday service and other worship events eg Worship Jam, rehearsals and special productions. The successful candidate will creatively nurture leaders, instrumentalists, and singers to elevate contemporary worship, and attract newcomers to Worship teams.     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Planning and leading Sunday’s contemporary worship service
    • Modeling and leading heartfelt worship – that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to God.
    • Recruiting, equipping, organising, building up and training the musicians and worship leaders within the church to serve the congregation as a worship ministry team.
    • Leading rehearsals that serve a dual purpose: (a) preparation for Sunday services and (b) cultivation of a Christ- centered community.
    • Serving as a member of the worship ministry team at Union Church.
    • Working alongside the AV/Production team, and the strong volunteer base of worship leaders, instrumentalists, and pianists.
    • Working with the youth to form a youth band.
    • Cultivating a worship community of singers and instrumentalists and pastorally care for the team.
    • Assisting, participating, and collaborating with special productions and events including music selection and other creative elements, construction and implementation.
    • Work alongside the Senior Pastor to create dynamic worship service

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Vibrant mature Christian faith
    • College or university degree in music, church music or related field of study, or comparable work experience
    • Sound theological training
    • Proven experience building and leading church worship
    • Proficiency with ProPresenter
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

    Piano Accompanist (Part-time)

    We have moved into larger, new premises on Kennedy Road in Hong Kong recently. Possibilities abound - new ministries, expanding services to Hong Kong and the world, opportunities for all to pursue God-inspired passions for His Kingdom. Union Church uniquely offers both traditional worship and contemporary worship services.

    We are seeking an experienced piano accompanist to join our music ministry team on a part-time basis. This is a new paid staff position that will build on the music ministry for the Traditional worship service on Sundays at 9:45am.

    The successful candidate will step into a vibrant community of 25 volunteer choristers and musicians, with the opportunity to further develop their talent. The new church building features a beautiful, light-filled 475-person Sanctuary and an intimate chapel for 100 as well as a larger Fellowship Hall, providing a variety of venues for worship services and musical performances. The Union Church Choir is very active during Easter and Christmas, with a variety of additional services added to our programmes.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

    • Vibrant mature Christian faith and passionate about Christian worship, and team player.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in music or piano performance or piano accompaniment. Familiar with traditional hymn tunes with excellent sight-reading skills.
    • Ideally experience working as an organist at a Christian church, international church, and/or churches abroad.

    Church Organist (Part-time)

    • Provide organ music for special performances, services and events such as Christmas Cantata, Easter Concert, Weddings, Funerals, and etc
    • Knowledge to operate a Rodgers Classical organ model Imagine 351MV 
    • Working alongside the Director of Choir and Assistant Worship Director

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Vibrant mature Christian faith and passionate about Christian worship
    • Bachelor/ Master’s degree in Sacred Music/ Organ Performance, or a piano major with the organ training background
    • Ideally experience working as an organist at a Christian church, International church, and/or churches abroad 
    • Familiar with traditional hymn tunes with excellent sight-reading skills   
    • Working alongside the AV/Production team
