Hong Kong and Union Church are in an exciting season. We are preparing to move into larger, new premises on Kennedy Road on Hong Kong Island later in 2023. Covid spurred a digital transformation in society and Union Church embraced the expansion of its digital ministry to reach people online in Hong Kong, Asia Pacific and around the world. We have formed a digital ministry volunteer team to foster community for people online, promote growth, and expand our digital footprint. We are now creating a new role for Director of Digital Ministry to lead this effort with the support of the volunteer team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification, to grow, engage with and deepen the congregation and attract “faith explorers/seekers”.
- Generate, edit, publish and share content (original text, images, video or HTML) in social media (currently Instagram, Facebook and YouTube) that builds meaningful connections and encourages congregants and faith explorers/seekers or people new to Union Church to take “upward faith steps”.
- Moderate live chat during two Sunday services on Facebook and YouTube, providing pastoral guidance and engaging audiences.
- Continuously improve by capturing and analysing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information
- Report to the Senior Pastor and the digital ministry team
- Collaborate with ministry and communication leaders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Vibrant mature Christian Faith
- Relational with a pastor’s heart
- Team player with effective communication skills
- The ability to develop and multiply teams to serve.
- Skills and experience in the technical arts (video production and editing, social media, online church, audio, livestream)
- Has the ability to be a self-starter, problem-solver, and great with follow-through.
- Undergraduate degree or related field preferred

Choir Director (Part-time or Full-time)

Union Church uniquely offers both traditional worship and contemporary worship services.
We are seeking a dynamic Choir director to join our talented staff team on a full-time or part-time basis. This is a new paid staff position that will build on the ministry created by a talented volunteer. The successful candidate will step into a vibrant community of 25 volunteer choristers and musicians, with the opportunity to further develop their talent. The new church building features a beautiful, light-filled 475-person Sanctuary and an intimate chapel for 100 as well as a larger Fellowship Hall, providing a variety of venues for worship services and musical performances. The Union Church Choir is very active during Easter and Christmas, with a variety of additional services added to our programmes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cultivating a worship community of singers and instrumentalists and pastorally care for the team.
- Recruiting, equipping, organising, building up and training the church choir and musicians within the church to serve the congregation.
- Leading rehearsals that serve a dual purpose: (a) preparation for Sunday services and (b) cultivation of a Christ-centered community.
- Building on our traditions, creating and designing different expressions of worship for the traditional worship services, including selecting weekly anthems.
- Working alongside the AV/Production team and the strong volunteer base of choir members and musicians.
- Leading, planning and producing special performances, services and events including music selection and other creative elements, such as Christmas Cantata, Easter Concert etc.
- Launching a children’s choir
- Working alongside the assistant worship director
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Vibrant mature Christian faith
- College or university degree in music, church music or related field of study, or comparable work experience,
- Sound theological training,
- Proven experience building and leading church choirs,
- Proficiency with ProPresenter,
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines,
- Servant-Leader, and
- Passionate about Christian worship

Our Director of Contemporary Worship will discover passionate volunteer worship teams with whom to collaborate to plan and deliver contemporary worship during the 11:15 Sunday service and other worship events eg Worship Jam, rehearsals and special productions. The successful candidate will creatively nurture leaders, instrumentalists, and singers to elevate contemporary worship, and attract newcomers to Worship teams.

- Assisting, participating, and collaborating with special productions and events including music selection and other creative elements, construction and implementation.
- Work alongside the Senior Pastor to create dynamic worship services.

Youth Director

We are seeking a Director of Youth to join our talented staff team. Our Director of Youth will help create an authentic, safe and fun environment where senior youth and junior youth can explore faith and a relationship with Jesus. Our youth are multicultural and multilingual from a variety of international and local schools, and engaged with the Youth Ministry. The successful candidate will develop Youth studies, programmes and opportunities for fellowship on Sundays and Fridays, special outreach events, and enjoy the active support and care from volunteer Youth leaders. The Director of Youth will also collaborate closely with Youth directors at international churches across Hong Kong to plan citywide events.

Children's Ministry Assistant

We are currently looking to hire a full time Children's Ministry Assistant. The successful candidate will assist our Children's Ministry Director, a caring, passionate and well-organised Children's Ministry leader who excels in mentoring. Union Church's Children's Ministry - Kingdom Kids - is vibrant and lively. This is a great role for someone who wants to make a difference in the lives of young children through creativity and shining the light of Jesus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in planning and execution of Sunday School & Creche programme.
- Assist in the planning, preparing and executing Children’s Ministry events throughout the year i.e. Hallelujah Party, Christmas Musical, Community Services, Vacation Bible School, etc.
- Teach as needed
- Administrative assistance - Sunday School attendance, database administration for registration and events, events promotion catalogues/flyers, etc.
- Assist with design work, stage prop, event decorations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Servant’s heart, teachable, organised.
- High school leavers, Diploma and Degree holders.
- Minimum 1 year working with children.
- Familiar with Mac applications and Photoshop or InDesign programs (an advantage).
WORKING HOURS:
- Tuesday - Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm, Sunday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
