Director of Worship

Union Church is a friendly, inter-denominational, English speaking, multi-cultural church, founded in Scottish Presbyterian roots, in Hong Kong in 1844. The ideal candidate will have a personal call to worship ministry, a strong Biblical foundation and have experience in leading worship, both traditional and contemporary. They will be a people-person, culturally sensitive, and comfortable working with a diverse group of people. They should be a collaborative team-player and be comfortable with online streaming. Strong administrative skills and the ability to play an instrument is important, as is, a broad knowledge of hymns and contemporary worship music. 

The worship leader will work closely with our Senior Pastor in crafting worship services. He/she will lead our congregation to see and savour the greatness of God in Jesus Christ, in the power of the Spirit. Fostering dynamic congregational worship, we are seeking an individual who is called and gifted by God in the following areas:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning and leading Sunday’s worship services – reflective of the seasons of the church calendar year, coordinating liturgy, readings and sermon themes.
  • Modeling and leading heartfelt worship – that draws people in, encourages participation, and points people to God.
  • Recruiting, equipping, organising, building up and training the church choir, musicians and worship leaders within the church to serve the congregation as a worship ministry team.
  • Leading rehearsals that serve a dual purpose: (a) preparation for Sunday services and (b) cultivation of a Christ-centered community.
  • Building on our traditions, creating and designing different expressions of worship for both traditional and contemporary worship services.
  • Serving as a member of the worship ministry team at Union Church.
  • Working alongside the AV/Production team, and the strong volunteer base of worship leaders, instrumentalists, pianists, choir director and youth band leader.
  • Cultivating a worship community of singers and instrumentalists and pastorally care for the team.
  • Coordinating live streaming church services and digital recording.
  • Assisting, participating and collaborating with special productions and events including music selection and other creative elements, construction and implementation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College or university degree in music, church music or related field of study, or comparable work experience,
  • Sound theological training,
  • Proven experience building and leading church choirs and worship teams,
  • Proficiency with ProPresenter,
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines,
  • Servant-Leader, and
  • Passionate about worship

Youth Director

We are seeking a capable, passionate, servant-hearted Youth Director to lead our vibrant and dynamic youth - both junior high and senior high and to become part of the Union Church staff team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage, disciple and build relationships with youth both in the congregation and in our city
  • Work with volunteer youth leaders at Union and connect with other youth leaders in the city
  • A missional heart and calling for youth and ministry
  • Facilitate youth mission trips both local and overseas

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Vibrant mature Christian faith
  • Relational with a pastor’s heart
  • Theologically trained - Bachelor's or Master’s degree in related field preferred
  • Calling to youth ministry
  • Team player with effective communication skills
  • Some experience preferred

Part-time Accounting Assistant

We are currently looking to hire a part-time accounting assistant, who will be assisting our accountant.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performing accounting and financial data entry, including voucher preparation with particular focus on account receivables.
  • Responsible for filing financial documents.
  • Delivering cheques to off-site Church officials for signatures, documents to external accounting related service providers, and cheques/cash to the banks.
  • To prepare and distribute of donation receipts for the Union Church and her related charity organisations.
  • Assisting the accountant with ad-hoc projects.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificate / Diploma in Accounting with 2 years of relevant progressive accounting experience.
  • LCCI Level 2 or equivalent is required.
  • Familiar with accounting software, MS office and Excel, preferable with prior knowledge of Peachtree.
  • Mature individual with high integrity who can interface with internal/external groups of all levels effectively.
  • Detail oriented, organised, time-sensitive & results driven.
  • Immediately available is preferable.

 WORKING HOURS:

  • 12 - 16 hours per week.

Children's Ministry Assistant

We are currently looking to hire a full time Children's Ministry Assistant, who will be assisting our Children's Ministry Director.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in planning and execution of Sunday School & Creche programme.
  • Assist in preparing Sunday School lessons and materials.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation and execution of Children’s Ministry events throughout the year i.e. Hallelujah Party, Book Fairs, Christmas Musical Rehearsals, Dress Rehearsal and Final Performance, Sunday School Teachers' Training, Christmas outreach programme, Sunday School Christmas Party, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day Family service, Community Services, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day events, Graduation Day, End of the Year Party, Sunday School Teachers Appreciation, Vacation Bible School, etc.
  • Assist with the administrative aspects of Children’s Ministry, i.e, Sunday School attendance, Registration Forms database, Events database, Events Promotion catalogues/flyers, etc.
  • Assist with design work, stage prop, event decorations, setting up and cleaning up related to Children’s Ministry and other church events as required.
  • Assist in procuring materials and supplies.
  • Requires to be at church every Sunday and to lead Kids Worship and teach Sunday School classes if needed (training will be provided).
  • Requires to work within the time frame set and more if needed.
  • May be required to work on Saturday and public holiday.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Servant’s heart for the ministry with a teachable and open attitude.
  • Highly motivated and action orientated; a strong work ethic; a get-it-done kind of person.
  • Organised and hard working.
  • Demonstrate an ability to relate well and work efficiently with fellow staff members and all volunteers.
  • Must be able to fulfill the responsibilities of the job.
  • High School Leavers, Diploma & Degree Holders.
  • Minimum 1 year working with children.
  • Familiar with Mac applications and Photoshop or InDesign programs (an advantage).

 

 WORKING HOURS:

  • Tuesday - Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm, Sunday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
