U Matters

This Sunday is the first of two opportunities for the congregation to receive more information on the single biggest decision that Union Church will make in modern times! That is, Building Union for the Future. This is a journey that first began back in 1997. As we continue to outgrow our facilities and saddled with the increasing challenges of managing an aging Church building, there has been a growing sense of urgency to make a decision now as a Church body. We have been presented with a tremendous opportunity with a leading developer in Hong Kong to redevelop Union Church and these sessions will provide all members a chance to find out more.

There will be an information session after the 9:30 service and a town hall meeting with ample time for questions after the 11:00 service this Sunday. The same sessions will be available on Sunday, 2 March. Please plan to attend as we want all members to be as informed as possible when we vote on this as a congregation at the Annual General Meeting on Sunday, 16 March.

Building Union for the Future Committee

Building Union for the Future

For almost two decades Union Church has considered the long term redevelopment of the current, aging church building. Now the time for decision is pressing upon us.

We believe that God has opened a door by providing a long term building plan that the church leadership (Deacons, Trustees, and Committee of Management) have unanimously endorsed. This endorsement came after prayer, deliberation, and consideration and re-consideration of multiple alternatives.

We believe that what God is providing with this plan is not just a new and exciting place of worship, but also a strong foundation for the warm, vibrant, compassionate community that Union aspires to be leading fruitful lives in Christ and doing Kingdom works in the community and beyond.

Please seek opportunities to engage a leadership member at the information table, attend a Town Hall session, or join in prayer vigils as we approach a vote on the plan at the Annual General Meeting on 16 March. Your leadership is united in its desire to pass on an even better spiritual home to those who follow us and we look to you for support in achieving this.

Humbly in Him,
Geoff Lovegrove, Trustees
Don Kanak, Deacons Court
Steven Kim, Committee of Management

Missions

Union Church is a Mission-minded Church!

Our hope as a Missions Team this year, is to get even more people engaged in Missions and Outreach. To do this we are looking to compile a directory of Christian ministries and NGO’s which are represented by church members and which could be of interest to our broader congregation. If you represent an organization by being a board member, an employee or volunteer, and would like your organization to be included, please email May Tang

Plan your Calender!

Union Church is joining International Care Ministries in the Philippines this April for a special family trip. Join us from the 11-15 April as we spend time in one of the many impoverished communities, helping to renovate homes and communities and give hope.
