A Special Month of Prayer - Week 2

23 February, 2014 12:00am

The theme of this week's prayer is to pray for The Church

Beginning 14 February, Union Church will enter into a month of prayer. For 31 days we will pray for Union as we approach the Annual General Meeting on 16 March. We invite you to join us in prayer and watch what He can do. Jesus loves to hear from us! Please sign-up at the link here to let us know you are joining us in prayer.

SUN, 23 FEB:

And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:14-16)

Meditation: Pray for unity and love as The Body of Christ worships together and pray that each meet someone new at Union Church today.

MON, 24 FEB:

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Ephesians 4:15-16}

Meditation: Reflect on how those who attend Union Church are the Body of Christ. Reflect on how we each do our part – what part do you play? Pray for us to build each other up in love.

TUE, 25 FEB:

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)

MeditationReflect on how all those who attend Union Church are part of the royal priesthood. Pray for ways that we may “declare the praises.” What is the best way for us to be called “out of darkness into His wonderful light?”

WED, 26 FEB:

Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. (1 Thessalonians 4:9)

MeditationReflect and pray on what you know to be true about loving the Body of Christ within Union Church. What action can you take this week to show agape love?

THU, 27 FEB:

Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. (Acts 20:28)

MeditationReflect on what it means to be a “mature follower of Christ?” Give praise that we all care what will become of us. Pray that we look up to God with faith and pray for one another.

FRI, 28 FEB:

Then I will purify the lips of the peoples,  that all of them may call on the name of the Lord and serve him shoulder to shoulder. (Zephaniah 3:9)

Meditation: Reflect on how we can refine, rejoice with, and restore one another. Give praise that we can speak freely in love and pray that this continues.

SAT, 1 MAR:

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)

Meditation: Pray for tomorrow’s Communion Sunday. Pray that God will make Himself known in such a powerful way, in response to our prayers, that we all recognise a difference.
