Celebrating Advent means learning how to wait. The world had waited a long time for God to respond, and He did. Isaiah stated, “Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” Isaiah 25:9 Jesus came according to plan. Jesus came to fulfill prophecy. Jesus came to fulfill a promise.
Many of us are impatient ‘waiters.’ We wait for buses, for job offers, for medical results and for situations to change. Waiting is often not easy. Whatever you are waiting for this holiday season be encouraged and trust that God knows what you need. In the Old Testament there is a promise that “those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” Isaiah 40:31.
During this Advent season take time to remember all that God has done in the past, consider what God will do in the present and be confident of what He will do in the future. As you wait may you be strengthened and encouraged in faith.
