U Matters

“The old has gone the new has come” takes on new meaning as we begin worship in a new sanctuary and location.  Thanks for joining the journey!  We want to be “in Christ” and we want to be there for each other. Please continue to pray for this new beginning.  (You might want to pray that the Lord will grant you patience with us and our new facility.)  I had the chance to go to the opening of a McDonalds where the food was free for a week while they trained their crews. (I couldn’t convince the CoM to cancel the offering the first week.)   Mistakes were made and it was sort of fun to see how many orders they got wrong.  But the price was right and that McDonalds has been thriving for years.

We begin our Sundays at Sunlight with three services.  The 11:15AM service will be swamped, so we have arranged an overflow area at the Indigo Hotel for latecomers.  Please consider attending the 8:45AM or 9:45AM service.

This is the final week of the public phase of the BUFF fundraising campaign.  Please prayerfully consider making a donation this Sunday.

It will be a miracle Sunday if we can fit everyone in, meet our BUFF financial goal, and escape another Typhoon.

The final service at Union, which all who attended will long remember, was organised by God.  All sorts of our planning handwork went to waste with the Typhoon. But the impromptu united service was an amazing act of worship.  I can’t wait to see his plans unfold for us in our new location.

Gratefully
Pastor Greg

This Week

Name tags available!  Stop by the Name Tags Table and pick up your name tag this Sunday! Our Union Welcome Committee have provided name tags to help us all get to know one another better during our time of transition. If your name does not appear we will be happy to provide one for you.  Let’s encourage one another and build up our fellowship together!

BUFF - FINAL APPEAL!

Last Sunday, the typhoon made the whole church come together in unity for ONE combined final Sunday service at the 22A Kennedy Road facility. We witnessed an outpouring of emotions, especially as we all turned around after the photo-taking to face the cross and sang the final hymn “The Power of the Cross”. This Sunday, we will continue our service at the well-designed and conveniently-located temporary premises at Sunlight Tower that God has provided for us. Many of us will be visiting the premises for the first time and will find it just stunning. May the unity of the Church and the power that flows from the cross continue to be with us as we set up base at Sunlight Tower and may we be a beacon of light to many in our new home!

This is now the final public appeal for the BUFF Fundraising.

Since the launch of the BUFF stewardship campaign at the end of April, we are truly grateful that more than 115 members of Union Church have contributed $7.6 million towards our target of raising $10 million for the fit out cost of Sunlight Tower and for professional costs incurred on this project. We are very grateful for the generous gifts received. However, we are still some $2.4 million short of our target.

As you settle into the new premises, please take a moment to consider prayerfully if you would like to make a donation towards our new home. Alternatively, if there is any item in Sunlight Tower that catches your attention that you would like to sponsor, please click on the link below to find the items and the sponsorship form is also attached.

Completed form and cheques may be sent to “BUFF Stewardship” at Union Church, 18th Floor Sunlight Tower, 248 Queen’s Road East, Wanchai, Hong Kong or bring the completed forms to deposit at church. If you would like to remit your donation to Union Church directly, please contact us for the church’s bank account details. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of more than $100.

If you have any questions, please do email and we will respond to you as soon as possible.
