U Matters

This week I picked up a beer can off the front steps of Union, only to find that it was shaking and buzzing inside. Some sort of insect (I didn't hold the can long enough to establish bug taxonomy) was stuck inside. Last week, between the record numbers at Youth Group on Friday and the Sunday crowds at the Family Fiesta, Union was shaking and buzzing! What a great start to what promises to be one of the most memorable times in Union's long history. Please pray foryour leaders as they seek to lead Union. Please pray for the the small group leaders, youth workers, and Sunday School teachers who serve way beyond the call of duty.

Thank you for being part of the buzz and may God continue to guide our lives as we follow his Son.

Pastor Greg

Youth

Sponsor A Hygiene Bag!
There is not a lot you can get with $100 HKD these days... maybe a set lunch in Central? For $100 you can also sponsor a Hygiene bag for a family in the Philippines full of Soap, new toothbrush, and other basic but much needed supplies that we take for granted. Our fall Mission trip has a goal of bringing down 300 bags to hand out at our Christmas in October celebration we are going to do while down in the Philippines. To sponsor a bag, you can email Brenna.

Parents Meeting THIS SUNDAY!
Meet in the Fellowship Hall after the 11:00AM service to find out what's happening this year at youth, how to get more involved, and to hear about helping mature your children's faith! There will be pizza and a movie in the youth room for kids of parents who stay for the meeting. Please RSVP to Brenna.

Outreach & Missions

An alternative Christmas present for HK$100
Are you looking for something different to give to family and friends this year? Why not consider sponsoring a Hygiene Gift bag in their name?

In October the Youth and their fa milies will be travelling to Tacloban, Philippines, site of last year's super typhoon, to help Kids International Ministry. There is still great need for those who are rebuilding their homes and their lives. We are putting together 300 gift hygiene bags with shampoo, toothpaste and other essentials to bless 300 families. Each bag costs HK$100. From 31 Aug to 21 Sep, come and find us at the Christmas Tree on the green to sponsor a gift bag or find out more. Contact Brenna or Lee-Ann.

Local Service Opportunity - just around your corner...
Sun, 14 Sep, 5:00PM -8:30PM Come and join us as we serve the elderly poor at St. Barnabas. Volunteers can help serve evening meals, help with clearing up, and preparing the evening entertainment. All are welcome. Contact Teddy Li.

ICC Walk-a-thon - HOLD THAT DATE Looking forward to the Fall? Not so hot and a great time to start walking. Especially for a good cause. International China Concern will be holding their annual Walk-a-thon on Sat, 11 Oct on the Peak. Last year close to 40 people took part. To register or find out more, contact Danielle Bradsher.

ALPHA will start again soon! The Introductory Dinner & Short Talk  will take place on Wed 24 Sept, 7:30PM in the Fellowship Hall. Everyone's welcome, especially your friends and colleagues who would benefit from asking their "Questions of Life" on Alpha.
