U MATTERS

Our team has had a full week and it's only Thursday!

Pastor Ruth was farewelled and retired to the Philippines. Juliana led a group on a retreat providing rest, renewal and reprieve. Dan hosted a young adult's study and a wings and fries night - where connections were made and relationships fostered. Jacklien has been busy teaching, recruiting and recording editions of Kingdom Kids. Seb and Elise connected with youth over bowling and joined Chris for an online FB event. Joyce, Jessey and our admin team have been busy providing support for all our services and daily operations! This week, I enjoyed teaching a baptism class and on Saturday I will baptise someone at the beach that I taught earlier. It is so exciting to see God at work and ministries happening at Union Church.

I am grateful that all of these ministries (and much more) are supported in prayer. I give thanks for our team of prayer warriors and those who join our weekly Tuesday morning prayer times, as well, our deacons who gather on Friday mornings for prayer. Prayer is critical and foundational to all that we do.

C.S. Lewis put it, "God designed the human machine to run on Himself. He Himself is the fuel our spirits were designed to burn, or the food our spirits were designed to feed on. There is no other." (Mere Christianity)

We read in Scripture, "Then Jesus told them...about their need to pray always and not to lose heart." Luke 18:1 NRSV

As we look forward to the weeks and months ahead we will be busy and I am convinced we need to Lean into Prayer. If you would like to participate in prayer - I would love to hear from you.

Blessings, Pastor Michele
