U MATTERS

I know some of you are having a rough week - particularly parents of young children and those seeking medical attention. I also know that some of you are suffering in silence - please know that you are not alone. We encourage you to reach out - we would love to pray and listen. There is much we cannot control but we can control how we respond to the challenges and difficulties that we are facing. We can control some things - what we eat, what we do with our free time, what we think about, what we read, watch and the list goes on. Self-care is critical during these challenging times.

This week, 32 people joined a Robert Morrison lecture given by Catriona Woodrow. People tuned in from Ireland, Scotland, mainland China, Australia and various parts throughout Hong Kong - it was a thoughtful and encouraging evening. A new cohort of Stephen Ministers is being trained - there are 9 new members, who upon completion of the 50 hours of training, will be added to the team and our new Stephen Leaders are facilitating the training - Ellen Ahn, Crystal Lo, Tess Lyons and Catriona Woodrow. Our Young Adults, Small Groups, Youth are still meeting - and there are some new lunchtime studies for men and women starting in March with Dan and Juliana. Alternatively, join us at Zoom Coffee hour -10:45-11:15. We hope that you get connected!

At GriefShare this week we heard a poem which resonated with many of us -

“The Weaver”- Grant Colfax Tullar

My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him.

Living with uncertainty isn’t easy. We need to remember that we are not alone. God has given us His Spirit and one another. Jesus said this, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” John 14:27

Blessings, Pastor Michele
