U Matters

Poverty is a massive problem. Union, along with other churches, participates in the 10/10/10 program where in October (10th month) we spend 10 minutes considering poverty and encourage you to give 10 dollars for poverty relief. It seems that the magical number for Union is 37, not 10.  37 of you went with Lee-Ann and Brenna to the Philippines to experience graphic and extreme poverty while building two houses and working in a girls' home with close to 37 girls. Last Sunday during 10/10/10 offering, we raised over $37,000 for a food bank in HK. And Union's senior pastor is 37 (plus a few years.)

This week, Martin Thomas of Viva, will share the creative ways that Christians are networking together to as we follow Jesus "who came to preach good news to the poor."

Thank you for your compassion and generosity!

Pastor Greg

The James Legge Christmas Musical - Save the date: 14 December

This year our children will be performing a very special Christmas Musical: The James Legge Christmas Musical. Who, you may ask, was James Legge? He was a famous Christian missionary-scholar in the mid-1800s and became the first professor of Chinese at Oxford University. But more importantly, Reverend James Legge was Union Church's first pastor and the founder of our church in 1844. In this year's Christmas Musical, we have the privilege of having Reverend Legge as our narrator to tell us the joyous message of the birth of Jesus and share with us some wonderful stories in the history of Union Church. We look forward to making this year's Christmas musical a truly historic and memorable performance for all families and friends of Union Church.

If you would like to get involved by sharing with us your creative talents in staging, costumes, music, graphics, choreography, marketing or just helping us inspire our performers, please contact Danielle Bradsher, Producer of the Musical, or Chris Yorks, Music Director. Thank you and may the JOY OF CHRISTMAS be with you all year round!
