1. Getting festive with the home of loving faithfulness (HOLF)

HOLF, one of our ministry partners, provides a loving home for life for children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. After our corporate worship and commissioning at church, our group will hop on a church-organised coach for a fast track to Sheung Shui. We will tour HOLF’s facilities including the new sensory garden that is bringing delight to residents and staff alike, and learn about HOLF’s mission, plans, and opportunities to volunteer at HOLF. Then it’s time to get festive, help make Christmas decorations for the home, and enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the cook. Good news! A PRC test is no longer required - please bring a photo of a RAT test taken that morning.

Maximum: 20 persons
Location: Union Church + HOLF in Sheung Shui, NT
Time commitment: 9:00am - 3:30pm (including return transport to church)
What to bring: Water, comfortable shoes, and a sense of fun
Suitable for: Individuals, families and youth

2. outreach with st. barnabas' society and home

We are delighted to return to St. Barnabas’ Society and Home (SBSH) to bring God’s love and hope to the poor and homeless elderly in Western. SBSH is one of the church’s ministry partners. We will experience SBSH’s centre and, together with elderly volunteers, will prepare ~90 lunch boxes. We will also order some gifts for SBSH’s service users, which will be packed that morning. After a short time of Bible study and interaction with the service users, we will then distribute lunch boxes and gifts.

Location: Union Church + SBSH
Time commitment: 9:00am - 12:30pm
What to bring: Water, sunhat, comfortable walking shoes, umbrella if needed
Suitable for: Individuals, families, youth. Cantonese language is a help!

3. praying our way to 22a

Prayer is transforming our lives and our church. We can see God at work as we remain united, humble and trusting in Him. He is establishing our steps and making our path straight! Our group will depart Wan Chai after our time of corporate worship and commissioning, and we will pray our way to 22A Kennedy Road, the home of our new church building by mid-2023. Join us as we invite the Spirit of God to accompany us and as we pray for our city, institutions, leaders, our church, neighbourhoods and ministry partners.

Maximum: No limit on participation
Location: Union Church + a ~3km moderate walk to 22A Kennedy Road
Time commitment: 9:00am - 11:30am

4. recreate - art in the park

Join Crystal Lo and the Creativity Ministry in outreach to the people at Tamar Park. Let’s bless them with an opportunity to create art, enjoy treats, and join in conversation. We will bring art materials and set up in a shady spot under the trees where people can express themselves and enjoy the beauty of the city and open space. All are welcome - no prior artistic knowledge needed.

Location: Union Church + Tamar Park (walking together from Union Church)
Time commitment: 9:00 - 11:30am
What to bring: Water, sunhat, comfortable walking shoes, mat and umbrella if needed. The church will provide art supplies and have a few mats available

5. feed my sheep - chung king ministry

Come serve the elderly, refugees and asylum seekers at Chung King Ministry, our ministry partner. We will be blessed to experience the centre in Chungking Mansions run by faith by Pastor Samuel and Deacon Shlivya Dhavale. We can pray for their ministry and for people they serve regularly – mostly elderly Cantonese-speaking people. We will bring in boxed lunches from a nearby café and distribute them at the doorway – while engaging in conversation with the visitors and asking about prayer needs. Individuals and families are welcome to join. Cantonese speakers would be appreciated!

Location: Union Church + Chungking Mansions on Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
Time commitment: 9:00am – 12:30pm

6. loving and blessing the china coast community

The elderly residents of the China Coast Community (CCC) have not been able to leave their home since early 2020 and can see only family members briefly. Our China Coast friends could use some encouragement! Our group will stay at Union Church and after worship will box up the new jars of assorted jam / marmalade and plain digestive biscuits that people have dropped off in recent weeks. We will also write cards with Scripture to encourage the China Coast residents and staff. China Coast Community is a “Friend of Union Church”.

Maximum: No limit on participants
Location: Union Church
What to bring: Your enthusiasm! The church will provide art supplies
Time Commitment: 9:00 - 11:00am
