I have known Christ since I was twelve through my primary school teacher. I studied my degree in New Zealand where I met my husband, Larry Chan, and we were married at our church, Elizabeth Street Chapel. In 1992, I followed Larry to Hong Kong with our newborn daughter, when my late mother-in-law had a stroke. We were baptized at the Alliance International Church (AIC) and served on the governing boards. I also volunteered as a library coordinator, greeter, small group co-leader, Alpha and children church helper for several years. When AIC relocated, we prayed for a church on Hong Kong island and joined Union Church from February 2023. I am serving as a Stephen Minister, mentor, greeter/ usher and reader.
Graduating from the Victoria University of Wellington in Accountancy, I subsequently qualified as a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Secretary and Fellow CPA. My Doctor of Education on academic leadership was completed at the University of Hong Kong in 2021. Currently retired, my previous senior management experiences were in strategic development and corporate management, blended with professional education and training.
I believe in Christ’s salvation, rejoicing in His blessings and living a Christ-centered life. I would like to use God’s given talents to share Christian kindness and serve at Union Church. I am honored to be nominated as a member of the Committee of Management and pray that my background and experience will enable me to serve Him well.
