U Matters

Our speaker this Sunday is Dr. Chip Hardwick. For the past few years he has been a key leader at the headquarters of the Presbyterian Church USA. For the past 38 years he has been a friend. Holly and I have watched him grow from a leader in a youth group to a leader, first in business and then in churches and a denomination. We have seen God at work in his life in joy and in tragedy. What a joy it has been to be in the cheering and praying section as Chip follows Jesus so faithfully.

The prayer we are praying together is “Dear Lord, change me and use me. Change and use Union Church.” God will change and use your life. Chip is but one example of what our Lord can do in a life. Let’s keep praying and let’s be open to how God chooses to answer that prayer in our lives.

This Week

Kids Worship Time
This is a wonderful opportunity for children to praise and worship God with lively Sunday School songs before they start their Sunday School lessons. We welcome parents who would like to join their children for the first 15 minutes at the start of the church service time for worship in the Fellowship Hall. We would also ask for our church congregants' kind understanding and cooperation to please walk around the area and not through the children as you access to the sanctuary or when visiting the restroom. Thank you for your help in making this Kids Worship Time that much more meaningful to the little members of our church.

Prayer Evening, Tuesday, 23 January
Please join us for an intimate Prayer Evening on Tuesday, 23 January from 7:30PM-9:00PM at Union Church, 18/F Sunlight Tower. The evening will be led by Pastor Paul Watermulder. Bring a prayerful heart and a friend for a very special evening.

With growing services, especially at 11:15AM service, we have 4 locations operational at the same time, we could really use your help in the usher greeter team.
Options:
Main sanctuary (4 people needed each Sunday; welcoming, actively seating; offering);
Door (this is a meet and greet -traffic control -directing people -children, bathrooms, services etc)
Foyer (front line of Union Church -welcoming, directing people to Hotel Indigo when the 18/F is full)

Youth are invited to come to Youth Group at Sunlight Tower this Friday!
Juniors (aged 11-13): 6:00PM-8:00PM
Seniors (aged 14-17): 7:30PM – 9:00PM (with an optional hang-out for Seniors until 10:00PM)
Dinner is from 7:30PM to 8:00PM.

Sunday Youth Group, 21 January
Youth of all ages (11-17) are welcome to join us from 9:45AM to 10:45AM in Pastor Greg’s Office every Sunday. We will be following the curriculum “The Story of Jesus” this semester, and this week’s theme is “The Birth of The King.”


Emulate Youth Conference – 19 - 20 January
The Emulate Youth Conference takes place every 2 years at Island ECC and is created specifically for youth across Hong Kong. The conference is open to students aged 11-18 and provides an opportunity for youth to come together, celebrate God and engage in teachings, worship and games. The theme of this year’s conference is “We Are The Church”.
Tickets are $250 and may be purchased online or from the Union Youth staff, with financial scholarships available if required.

Crèche Center (0-3 years old)
Dear Parents, due to the sanctuary expansion the Crèche Center will now moved permanently to ROOM 1. We appreciate your kind understanding and cooperation. In addition, please leave the baby strollers at the designated stroller parking area which can be found at the church main door entrance in order to keep the Crèche Center clean and safe for babies to use.
