The Deacons met last night. In all my years of going to church committee meetings, I never laughed so much. It's not that we were witty, or flippant, or told jokes. Rather it was the joy and fellowship of a group of people doing the Lord's work together. We did discuss some difficult issues but found our way to agreement. The Deacons are indeed spiritual leaders and we are so fortunate that some very busy people have taken their time and devoted it to what God is doing at Union.
We are in a month of Stewardship. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 9:7 that "God loves a cheerful giver." I praise God for cheerful Deacons and cheerful givers who make it possible for people to meet and follow Jesus Christ in a variety of ways. I wonder if the Lord chuckles and laughs with us as we do his work? We did feel his presence with the Deacons in a special way. Please prayerfully consider your part in the support of his work in this special congregation.
