U Matters - 24 June 2021

by Rev Dr Michele Bland on June 24, 2021

As I think of this week -I am thankful. First, I am thankful for the Peterson family. Monte and her family Matt, Finn and Willa have been worshipping with us since 2017, it was then that Monte started to help us with a J. John Just 10 series on the 10 Commandments and since then she has gone from strength to strength. Since being at Union Church she has completed her Master of Divinity, was able to fulfill her ordination requirements and is well on her way to becoming a Lutheran pastor. She has faithfully served us through providing connecting opportunities “Love your Neighbour,” serving opportunities “Bless the City,” educational opportunities “Recharge,” reflecting opportunities “Interview series” -she has preached, taught and engaged in pastoral care. We are grateful for her servant-leadership and look forward to seeing how the Lord will use her and her family in Wisconsin. We give thanks for Monte and the Peterson family.

Second, I am thankful for the servant-leadership of BUFF -Building Union for the Future, our Trustees, COM and deacons. I am grateful for their commitment to listen to one another, to serve one another, to share their thoughts, to work together for the common good, to pray and to take the time to seek unified resolutions. I am thankful how the Lord has gifted His church with both spiritual and natural gifts and how engaged our leadership is in building Union for the future.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us give thanks, by which we offer to God an acceptable worship with reverence and awe; for indeed our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:28-29

May we live grateful lives -Pastor Michele
