U Matters - 21 Jan 2016

The Bible was printed in 1454 A.D. by Johannes Gutenberg, who invented the "type mold" for the printing press. It is considered a "best seller" and is the most widely distributed book. But not everyone has a Bible in their own language. Fortunately ‘Faith Comes by Hearing’ is working diligently to fill the gap. Your generous donation to this ministry has made a difference in someone's life. Thank you. We are also thankful to Danielle Bradsher for leading the way at Union in our ‘Reading the Bible in a Year’ initiative. To date, 107 people signed up to read the Bible in a year and this week over 50 of us joined a dinner and found encouragement in one another and in Pastor Matthew’s Bible history talk. This is no ordinary book. According to Hebrews 4:12, “the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Are you currently reading a best seller?

P.S. In a few hours, 29 ladies are off to Thailand for a Ladies Retreat. Pray for Terri Appel, the speaker, the families left behind and the leadership team, Winnie Satjachaiyanon, Rebecca Brosnan, Brenna Dykman, Lee-Ann McFarlane and Pastor Michele.
