My favourite verse about the church is found in Acts 2:42-47. In this text we see the early church focused and intentional on studying the word of God, on praying for one another, on building community and ministering to those who had need. Being the church means "rejoicing with those who rejoice; mourning with those who mourn." Romans 12:15

This week, we all rejoiced (and breathed a sigh of relief) that one of our deacons and key greeter, Steven Kim, arrived to the hospital in time to have a successful heart surgery. We rejoice in the body of Christ who have been interceding and sending best wishes to the Kim family. We rejoice that Alexander Mak, one of our deacons graduated with a Master of Divinity at Lutheran Theological Seminary, and with Dr Nusta Kobakhidze on publishing her book, "Teachers as Tutors: Shadow Education Market Dynamics in Georgia." There is much to celebrate. As we learn to be Christ to one another, I know there are others in our congregation who are suffering with health issues, worry, unemployment etc. Let’s remember them and our asylum seeking families as they await verdicts.

This Sunday, we welcome Pastor Matthew Fredericks back into the pulpit. I know many of us look forward to catching up with him and Jolene. We rejoice that the Fredericks are able to be amongst us for four weeks.

Blessings,
Pastor Michele
