U Matters - 11 March 2021

by Pastor Michele on March 11, 2021

Last week, our community was shocked when we heard the news that Charles Lee Schmitt went to his eternal home -Thursday March 4th. Charles was a faithful and active member of Union Church. He was a friend to many and served in many ministries including Family in Need, Refugees, Prison, Men’s and Walk to Emmaus. Charles and Bronwyn raised their children Nick, Drew and Mariel at Union Church and have been a part of the community for decades -30 years. Last week, many lost a friend.

In the suddenness of this news, we are reminded of the brevity of life. We are reminded of the eternal home that God has prepared for us. We are reminded of the importance of ‘keeping our eyes on the prize.’

In the words of the Apostle Paul,

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-9

I am grateful for eternal hope and am praying for peace and comfort for the family and our community -

Pastor Michele
