The Apostle Paul described Church as being similar to a body, "there is one body, but it has many parts. But all its parts make up one body." 1 Corinthians 12:12. The Apostle Paul talks about the importance of each member of the body playing their part, for example, "the eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" Each person in our church is so important and each person plays a significant role.
Later in this text, the Apostle Paul goes on to say, "If one part suffers, every part suffers with it. If one part is honoured, every part shares in its joy." verse 27. When I think about our church at Union, I am so encouraged to see members of our community "rejoicing with those who rejoice and mourning with those who mourn." Romans 12:15. It is such a blessing to see brothers and sisters reaching out, praying, supporting, aching with and encouraging those in need. When we come along side of our brothers and sisters in good times and in bad, we are being the Church that is close to God's heart.
