U Matters - 06 August 2015

I bought a pair of running shoes marked “final price” at a sale. Later that day I stopped by the store and found that they had reduced the price of the shoes in half. When I flew back to Hong Kong (economy class), I watched several people get upgraded to business. They were thrilled and were taking selfies. What about me? I fly that airline often but they picked some less deserving people to upgrade. Not fair!

My sense of fairness was violated by the store and the airline. Sometimes God stretches my concept of fairness. The words of Matthew 20:15 haunt me: “Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me. Or are you envious because I am generous?” Yes, I am envious when God blesses others. Am I the only one?
