U Matters

Sometimes the best way to say thanks is by giving. Holly and I are shopping for Christmas presents for friends as well as family. We want them to know how much we value them and how much they mean to us. The same is true about thanking God.

My colleagues Ting and Anita engaged me in a spirited discussion (church speak for argument) about whether a wedding can be a worship service. Can filling out a pledge card be an act of worship? Paul tells the Corinthians that their "generosity will produce thanksgiving to God" and that they will "glorify God" through their giving.

Sunday we gather to worship God and part of that worship will be giving. Hopefully, it will be THANKS GIVING as we reflect on the grace and bounty and joy he has poured into our lives through Christ. Be sure to stay for the turkey feast that follows the 11AM and 5PM services.

Christmas Fun Fair

Sunday December 1 at 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

The Christmas Fun Fair is as an outreach opportunity for our family, friends, colleagues and neighbours in which to celebrate the real meaning of Christmas. There will be lots of fun things to do – arts & crafts plus games for kids, a marketplace with fair trade/NGO vendors and lots of festive music followed by a special family service at 5:00 pm. There are two ways for you to get involved. We need lots of volunteer help to bring food, play music/sing, and help with arts & crafts and with set-up. The second is to invite your community of family & friends to come along!

"Crossing Boundaries" at Union Church

Interested in missions or outreach opportunities? Below are several ways for you to engage. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Union Church is a Missional minded Church!

Many of our congregational members are involved in different ministries which range from advocacy for asylum seekers, feeding the elderly, taking care of orphans and disabled children, integral mission, and caring for the poor in communities around Hong Kong and Asia. Next year, our hope as a Missions Team, is to get even more people engaged in Missions and Outreach.  To do this we are looking to compile a directory of Christian ministries and NGO’s, which are represented by church members, and which could be of interest to our broader congregation. If you represent a organization by being a board member, an employee or volunteer, and would like your organization to be included, please email May Tang  .

Keep the Date:

Mali Hong from Sunrise Educational Fund will be interviewed during the services on Sunday November 24. Mali's organization works among migrant workers, and it is estimated that there are now 300 million migrant workers in China. Come and hear about the unique way that they are serving the community.

Refugee Run Crossroads (Dec. 7 Saturday): There are approx. 7000 asylum seekers in Hong Kong. Come and experience their experience! Sign up at the Table on the Green.
