U Matters

U Matters - 3 Jan 2019

by Pastor Michele on January 03, 2019

After almost twelve years of ministry at Union Church, last Sunday was Pastor Greg’s last Sunday at Union. On behalf of the staff and leaders, we wish him and his family all the best in the new year. Additionally, as this is the first U-Matters of 2019, we would like to wish the congregation both here and afar all the best for the New Year. We do not know what 2019 will look like or where it will take us, but we have a loving God who does.

Looking ahead, it is my hope that as individuals and as a community we will make investments in things that have eternal significance, things that last. The Greatest Commandment reminds us what is most important, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind. And the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-38 Following this commandment will give us direction, purpose and an anchor.

In our attempt to fulfil the Greatest Commandment we have some plans in place. Next week, we are launching lunchtime workplace Alpha on Tuesdays at Sunlight Tower and this Sunday, we are embarking on a new study and sermon series The Good and Beautiful God.We encourage you to pick up a copy of the book, join a small group or come along to Recharge on Wednesday nights. These are tremendous spiritual formation opportunities and we hope that you get connected.

It has been said that approximately 95 percent of New Year’s resolutions are broken by the end of January. That’s rather discouraging. My hope is that we commit to being a community that invests in things that will last, things that have eternal significance.
