Love is in the air at Union Church. Hunter, our Youth Director, wed Jess one month ago and by all reports he is indeed a happily married man! On Saturday, September 7th, Dr. Joyce Wu, our Assistant Worship Director, will marry Joshua Chen at Chung Chi College Chapel at 1:30pm and you are invited! We rejoice with these new couples and wish them decades of love, peace, joy and happiness.

The well-known love passage, found in 1 Corinthians 13, is a passage that is often read at weddings, however, in this passage the Apostle Paul is really addressing everyone in the church (not only couples). The text is a practical reminder of how we are to express love to others.

"Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end."

Love never dies. (The Message)

“We love because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19) May God, through His Spirit, enable us to love others in a way that is honoring to Him.

With love,

Pastor Michele
