U Matters - 20 Oct 2016

Chris Yorks stopped in my office to see if I had a favourite song for Sunday. Because of the typhoon, “Rain, Rain, Go Away” was my first choice. Being more spiritual than me, he suggested “Lord, Reign (Rain) in Me” or “There Will Be Showers of Blessings.” That last one is a classic, written in 1883 by D.W. Whittle. Here is the chorus:

Showers of blessing, (Showers, showers of blessing)
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

I don’t know about you, but I don't mind "showers of blessings" and "mercy drops" falling into my life. The Lord uses people to administer his blessings. This week we will study two unsung heroes who helped Paul by their selfless living and giving. They remind me of some very special Union people. What a joy to be part of a congregation that is an instrument of blessing and mercy to Hong Kong and to the wider world. Thank you for letting the Lord shower his blessing through you. And unlike the rain, may it never stop.
