Recently I talked with a person who has been terribly treated by well-meaning but sure that they are completely right Christians. Rather than being bitter this person had a spirit of love and forgiveness that shocked me. I want to be like that! This week we will study Psalm 51 — a Psalm of David. I encourage you to read it and let God speak to you through it. It is the best advice I will give you this week.
The person I met exhibited Christian character that comes from following Christ and living in the power of his Holy Spirit. This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. We celebrate that we can live supernaturally, even in the way we love and forgive those who treat us in ways that are less than helpful.
“Create in me a clean hear, O God, and put a new and right spirit in me,” prayed David in Psalm 51. That’s my prayer for the day.
