As this New Year 2017 commences, let us remember the past year. In so doing, may we truly repent of all that has hindered us from abiding in The Lord. Pray for forgiveness, for any promises and resolutions we made and never fulfilled.
- Pray that the Lord forgive us, for the times we neglected prayer and His word as our focus. Let us recall the things that hindered us from getting closer to Him and keeping His word. May we come to realise our mistakes and shortcomings and make amends. Pray that the Lord help us to be willing to forgive ourselves and to forgive one another.
- Pray that the Lord remind us of our truest values and our deepest desires. Pray that the Lord help us to live in the goodness that comes from doing what He wants us to do. Help us to put aside anxiety about the future and regret of the past, so that we might live in peace with Jesus now, one day at a time.
- As we enter the New Year of 2017, pray for new beginnings: “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
- While praying for 2017, consider this prayer, "Lord, You make all things new You bring hope alive in our hearts and cause our Spirits to be born again. Thank you for this New Year for all the potential it holds. Come and kindle in us a mighty flame so that in our time, many will see the wonders of God and live forever to praise Your glorious name. Amen."
