U Matters

Wednesday marked five years since Grant and I stepped off the plane from Chicago to Hong Kong. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into coming to Hong Kong, nor what exactly God had planned. Now, five years later, as we prepare to leave, it’s amazing to be able to look back and see how faithful God has been in his blessings and his provisions. 

Union Church has been one of those great blessings in our lives. Beyond just a place of worship, you have been our church community to support us through the changes and challenges of living abroad. Thank you to the Union U’th and their commitment to growing in their faith. Thank you to the parents and families and volunteers who have supported the youth ministry through time, service, and prayers. Thank you to all of you for embracing us as part of the community. 

No matter where each of our lives take us, there are constant truths that will remain the same. First is God’s unending love and grace, and second is our call to follow him wholeheartedly, running the race of life as to win HIS prize. May each of you live out your lives in view of those two truths, no matter where God leads you!

Dear Kristin, 

Thank you for the memories and the ministry. You transformed Union's youth ministry and many of our lives. God has some great plans for the Frankes. We are so grateful that for five years those plans included Union. We are praying and cheering for you as you leave for Princeton.

Piano Fund Complete! 

And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19) And He does, this time through the generous giving of his people! We thank God and Union friends and family for the completion of our piano fund. All 88 keys have been donated and we are now ready to purchase the piano and hope to have it in place by September.  Thank you all and may God bless the generous hearts of His people!

Summer Spiritual Refreshment

Praise God! In the aftermath of Typhoon Vincente, 56 people attended session 1. I am so encouraged and thankful for all the discussion group leaders, volunteers that helped with Audio/Visual, Sign Up and Book Sales, food preparation and not to mention superb admin support. We have set up a Facebook event on the church page with the latest information. We continue with Session 2 on Tuesday night, July 31.

VBS - 2012 (August 8-10, 2012)
Register for PANDAMANIA! 

Registration for children between 3 years old (as of August 8, 2012) and 10 years old is ongoing, with limited spots.

We are still looking for volunteers 

For this year’s VBS on August 8-10, 2012, we have a meeting the day before, August 7 from 12:30 to 2:30PM. If you are interested in serving, please fill up Volunteer Forms found at our VBS board or at Union Church website, or contact children@unionchurchhk.org or 2101-0414.

Housing for
Children's Ministry Intern

We have a Children’s Ministry Intern who will help out in our children’s programs while our Children’s Ministry Director will be on maternity leave. We are very excited that Sarah Lane, a Master of Divinity graduate from Princeton Seminary is joining Kingdom Kids! Originally from Ossineke, Michigan, she has spent some of her teen years in Pakistan and Bangladesh, and has a heart to minister in Asia. We are looking for a host family to provide her accommodation from October to December. Please prayerfully consider opening your home to Sarah.
