U Matters

Wednesday I walked into a war zone.  Union's sanctuary was under attack by a variety of construction workers. There was a scaffold, there was dust, there were holes in the wall and wires everywhere.  Rob Porter, our wonderful sound guy, didn't help when he said that "the church will be dismantled by the end of the business day."  My mind went back to 1945 when church members came back to find Union reduced to rubble by the war.

Our property and worship committees have been working overtime to repair some serious leaks and to replace an aging and ugly sound and video system.

In a week, the church will be sparkling with new paint and power.

In construction, surgery, and in our Christian lives, we have to remove things that don't work.  Paul, in Colossians 3:8-9 puts it painfully plain:You must get rid of all such things--anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive language,...seeing that you have stripped off the old self with its practices."

As we grow as individuals and as a congregation, we need to get rid of things that hinder us for full life in Christ.  Pardon the dust and the construction as God builds a new work in our lives.
