It is very much the rage to have a corporate or personal mission statement. A mission statement is a brief description of a company's fundamental purpose. A mission statement answers the question, Why do we exist? The mission statement articulates the company¹s purpose both for those in the organization and for the public.

The best mission station ever was created by Jesus Christ:  "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."  Matt 28:19-20. Why do we exist?  To fulfill the Great Commission or Great Mission Statement. As Emil Brunner wrote and John Stott popularized: "A church exists by mission as fire exists by burning."

Today we celebrate missions, the reason why the Church exists.  To help us, Dr. David Wang, a leading expert on China whose leadership, writings, ministry and messages have touched countless lives, will be preaching at all our services.  David joined Asian Outreach in 1966 and transformed this mission organization into a cutting-edge evangelist force throughout Asia.  David serves as President Emeritus of AO--his successor as president is Union Deacon Francis Tsui. There will be a special panel on missions at the 6PM service, featuring Union missionaries Robert Hudson, Bruce Taylor and Francis Tsui.
